Bark Out Your Complaint to B&N
June 27th, 2008 by MaxThis week a customer reported to us that she tried to buy our book from a Barnes & Noble brick & mortar store in the Chicago area. Of course, they didn’t have a book in stock (because thus far B&N has refused to carry it in its stores), but they promised to order it for her from the publisher (that’s us, but we never heard from anyone at B&N). They took her money and after a month when she didn’t hear from them, she returned to the store to find out what was going on. The clerk told her that the book was “out of print” and said they were 99% sure they would refund her money. Ouch! Anyway, even though this customer doesn’t use a computer, she was able to track us down and we are in the process of processing her order.
It has been disappointing that B&N has chosen not to stock our book on a store level, but even more disappointing that they would pass on misinformation about our title. I encourage all of you to bark out your complaint to B&N. Email PublisherAuthorInquiry@BN.com or write to The Small Press Department, Barnes & Noble, Inc., 122 Fifth Ave., New York, NY 10011. Also if you like our book, please go to your local bookstore and ask that they carry our title. Together we can make sure this title gets the readership it deserves and we can help support rescue! So far, B&N gets four growls and no paws up!
